Aspects of West Africans in Britain at the beginning of the 20th century (including John Prince) are to be found in my book Black Edwardians (London: Cass, 1998) which is still available (try Abe Books) and reaching back into the 1850s also on the pages of my website jeffreygreen.co.uk, several of which are illustrated. The Old Bailey site is excellent but when seeking trial details having been alerted to a black presence (witness, accused, prosecutor) in the contemporary press a number of these reports do NOT mention the ethicity of the 'black' or 'coloured' person. You have to cross reference.

Best wishes
